The operator norm of a matrix highly depend on the corresponding norm on \(\mathbb{C}^n\).

If we consider the \(l^p\)-norms on \(\mathbb{C}^n\), the corresponding operator norm is given by

  • \(p=1\), column sum norm,
  • \(p=2\), spectral norm,
  • \(p=\infty \), row sum norm.
